biography

The ArtistFive years ago, I escaped from the cold, rainy weather of Scotland to settle here in Toronto. I have since become heavily involved in the Artists’ Network and I am also a regular contributor to shows including the Octopus Project, Square Foot, Riverdale Art Walk and The Little Art Show.

I am heavily influenced by the English Arts and Crafts movement and Art Nouveau, especially Charles Rennie Mackintosh, whose works are an integral part of my native Glasgow. Acrylics have granted me the freedom to express these organic, sinuous forms whilst also allowing me to build up depth using translucent layers reflecting many years working with pastels.

Other sources of inspiration have been Josef Albers, travel, Clyfford Still, Thom Yorke, Wassily Kandinsky, tea, and Bridget Riley.
